Podere Pagliaiolo is located in the heart of the Tuscan Maremma, lapped by the clear waters of the Albegna river. It is a property of about 16 hectares, surrounded by the countryside of the rich territory of Scansano and close to the villages of Saturnia and Montemerano.
The farm, born at the time of the Agrarian Reform, was originally dedicated to the breeding and the doma of the Maremma horses, by one of the most famous buttero of the area (a Maremman cowboy), Fernando Forci, called Nando, who had his equestrian kingdom here.
In this generous land, in addition to having recovered the historical structures, we have created a harmonious garden and a fantastic orchard and we preserve the fields with the original crops of cereals and hay and the ancient rows of olive trees, to which we have long joined new plants. At present we have 420 trees. The property is surrounded by hedges, with an electronic gate and a private road that leads to houses and parking
The beautiful manor house has been rebuilt in great respect of the land style, simple and elegant. Volumes, colours and details are harmoniously integrated with the landscape, with a distinct note of character. Manor and Guest House, despite their diversity are linked to each other by architecture, materials and colours and characterize the Podere with original style, in great harmony with the territory.
The vegetable garden was completely renovated in spring 19, with an accurate design by the architect Ivan Gallo, with the ingenious idea of the comfortable raised pools, with great care and respect for the landscape and indigenous essences. With seats to rest, clean the vegetables and enjoy nature …fresh and organic vegetables together with pristine scents
Taking a nice bath for guests of the Guest House is not a problem! A short distance away there are the fresh and clear bathing waters of the river Albegna; if you want to take the car, in a few hours you will reach the beaches of Capalbio or Monte Argentario. But how great is the satisfaction of taking a nice nap in the sun loungers or under the umbrella and then a nice dip, a bath at any time, in the salt water of the pool, right in front of the house? With the pool “in house” the holiday is more fun…
